101 Goals list

101 Goals list

In his book The Success Principles, Jack Canfield discusses the power of writing a list of 101 goals you want to accomplish in your lifetime. He also suggests in his Train The Trainer training to publish it so people can see it. To publish it serves two purposes.  The first one is to keep you accountable. The second is that most people want to help and having it out there allows people to come forward and help you achieve a goal from your list. I would also add that writing your goals on paper, helps you making them real. It Is easier to achieve a goal that has been made concrete than a goal we keep in our head.

Also, when writing your goals down, three things suddenly appear that stop most people from pursueing their goals; Considerations, Fears and Roadblocks.

Considerations are your thoughts or negative beliefs in regards to you achieving your goal such as, I’m too old, I don’t have time, I could get hurt and so on. They are all reasons why you shouldn’t attempt that goal. But letting them all surface is good because it is now making you aware of what is stopping you and you can deal with them, confront them and move past them.

Fears, on the other hand, are simply feelings. Fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of making a fool of yourself fear of getting hurt and so on. These fears are not unusal. They are simply a part of the process. Knowing that in advance helps you move through them.

Finally roadblocks are external circumstances. Things from outside that you need to deal with to be able to reach your goal. They are just things that need to be handled.

Unfortunately, when these considerations, fears and roadblocks come up, most people see them as stop signs and that they shouldn’t pursue their goals at all. But these signs are just truly part of the process that will always appear. In fact, if they do not appear, it means that you haven’t set a goal big enough to stretch you and make you grow. It means there is no real potential for self-development.

Learn to welcome consideratiosn, fears and roadblocks when they appear because many times, they are the very thing that have been holding you back in life and as you become aware of them, you can face them and deal with them. When you do, you become better prepared for the next venture you want to undertake.

Now here is my list of goals. It was surprisingly difficult to come up with what I did and I will continue adding more as time goes on.
